‘The Last of Us’ creators teases mind-blowing new surprises
The Last of Us creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, teases that the tale of the upcoming HBO adaptation will feature mind-blowing surprises.
The 9-episode series is based on the popular award-winning video game of the same name, and revolves around the relationship of survivor Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl who carries a natural immunity to a fungal infection that has plagued the entire world and caused a zombie apocalypse.
Joel and his accomplice, Tess (Anna Torv), agree to carry Ellie across the dangerous nation to the Fireflies, a violent revolutionary organisation wanting to exploit Ellie’s immunity to build a medicine that might save the world.
Druckmann and Mazin hints at surprises in the adaptation while speaking at this year’s CCXP in São Paulo.
“I have played The Last of Us about 12 times. I know how it ends. I love the journey. And we promise, there will be surprises along the way. If you’ve played the game, I promise you there are things that you don’t know that are coming that will blow your mind.” says Mazin.
Druckmann chimed in, claiming that certain parts in the movie are not featured in the game. “You’ll get to see an enrichment of these characters…It’s interesting, we’ve now talked to people who have watched the entire season and went back and played the game, and they said the game is now richer having watched the show.”
The Last of Us will release next year on HBO Max.
