Meghan Markle has been accused by anonymous sources of having staff employees on the show conduct interviews with her guests. Audio of her voice was added to the final episodes of her now-canceled Archetypes podcast.
Podnews reported just days after it was made public that the Sussexes’ $20 million contract with Spotify had been terminated.
Podnews reports that “multiple sources” have stated that “some interviews on the show were done by other staffers, with questions edited in afterward.” However, the site does not specify which episodes may have been affected by this claim.
Throughout its 12-episode run, Meghan’s podcast included celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Serena Williams, and Mindy Kaling. The latter of whom even tweeted a photo of themselves with the Duchess after their episode aired.
However, this is not the first time that questions have been raised regarding Meghan’s involvement in the interview process for other persons who are featured on Archetypes, even though she may have interviewed several very high-profile guests for the audio show.
New York journalist Allison Yarrow, who appeared on the Meghan Markle podcast in August of 2016, said that she wasn’t interviewed by Meghan. She was interviewed by a member of her production team.
In a statement released last week. Spotify announced that they would not be renewing Meghan’s podcast for a second season.
“We are proud of the series we made together,” the statement said.
The Wall Street Journal reports that in 2020, Meghan and Harry inked $20 million deal with Spotify for the project. The sources close to the streaming giant said the royal couple will not receive the whole amount. Due to the reason that they did not fulfill the productivity benchmark.
