Housemates nominate each other for eviction each week, resulting in intense drama, alliances, and unexpected twists. The last person standing receives a large cash award as well as eternal renown. The show debuted on Channel 4 in 2000, 23 years ago. It used to have a live feed into the house where viewers could watch the housemates at any time for free, so you never missed a thing.
Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2, ItvBe & CITV said:
This refreshed, contemporary new series of Big Brother will contain all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round, but with a brand new look and some additional twists that speak to today’s audience.
