Snyder, known for his directorial prowess, appreciated the playful jab, emphasizing that the joke was more about fandom. “I thought [Barbie] was great,” Snyder commented. “And I think the joke is pretty good.” He went on to acknowledge the unique intersection of his name with a massive pop culture phenomenon, stating, “That’s pretty insane. You just need to step back for a second and go like, ‘Whoa, what did we do? What happened? How is that a thing?'”

According to Deadline, The Barbie movie’s reference to the “Snyder Cut” alludes to the alternate version of Justice League directed by Snyder before Joss Whedon took the helm. Whedon’s directorial shift led the film in a different direction, resulting in underwhelming box office performance. Fans fervently campaigned for the “Release the Snyder Cut” movement, eventually succeeding with the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on Max in 2021. Snyder’s rendition showcased a darker and grittier tone, featuring bonus footage filmed for the extended release.

As Snyder reflects on the unexpected integration of his name into a Barbie movie punchline, it highlights the enduring impact of the Snyder Cut movement on popular culture.
