Twisted Metal Renewed for Season 2 at Peacock
Peacock has renewed Twisted Metal for a second season.
Michael Jonathan Smith, the showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the half-hour live-action TV series Sweet Tooth, expressed gratitude to the devoted fans for their overwhelming support.
The series, based on the classic PlayStation game Twisted Metal, is set to continue the story of John Doe, Quiet, and Sweet Tooth as they confront both familiar faces and new adversaries in the highly anticipated Twisted Metal tournament.
According to Variety, the first season of Sweet Tooth follows a fast-talking outsider who receives an opportunity for a fresh start, provided he successfully delivers a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Teaming up with an axe-wielding car thief, the protagonist encounters various challenges on the open road, including confrontations with individuals driving damage-inducing vehicles and a deranged clown in an eerily familiar ice cream truck. Developed by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, known for their work on Deadpool and Zombieland, the series features Anthony Mackie and Will Arnett in both executive producer and starring roles. Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa, and Thomas Haden Church also join the stellar cast.
Sweet Tooth premiered on July 27 and quickly became Peacock’s most-binged original in its first week. Currently ranking among Peacock’s top three originals of all time, the series continues to attract new viewers who discover its gripping narrative and engaging characters.
