Star Wars To Display Toys In Museum of Gloucester

Toys and posters from the Star Wars franchise are the focus of a brand-new exhibition that just debuted.

Between 1977 and 1985, it is believed that 300 million action figures based on the movie were sold. The original, unopened toys now fetch very high prices on the secondary market.

Matt Fox, who is responsible for the exhibition’s curation, said that the display just represents the “tip of the iceberg” of his collection.

“The designs are incredible. So many different aspects of our culture have achieved the stature of an icon as a result. It’s because of this that Star Wars is still so popular even now,” Mr. Fox said.

Star Wars Bringing Amazing Memories

Mr. Fox has traveled the globe bidding against other collectors at various auction houses. In hopes of finding entire figurines.

“If they are in the box, unsold and unopened, it ups the game. We are talking about quite a bit of money,” he added. “If they are in the box, unsold and unopened, it ups the game.”

Mr. Fox said that he was first introduced to the Star Wars series when he was five years old and was given a Darth Vader action figure as a gift.

“One of my earliest memories is opening it up and getting that pungent vinyl smell from the figure. It was one of the first toys I ever owned.”

“I believe that the designs are outstanding. You may choose anything since all of them are outstanding,” he said.

On Saturday, the museum’s opening day, members of the Gloucestershire Troopers, so a local fan club dedicated to Star Wars and based in the county, greeted visitors and helped them find their way inside.

“delighted that such a popular and prestigious exhibition” has come to the museum, said Andrew Lewis, who is in charge of culture for Gloucester City Council, which is in charge of the city.

“Every audience will find something of interest, and we aim to provide something for all interests,” he said, “and we look forward to the force guiding you in your visit to the museum.”
