Fact-checkers discredit video that started Harry-Meghan divorce rumors

Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking website PolitiFact fact-checked the Meghan Harry divorce video and concluded that it was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed.
Following the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, a video with the caption “MEDIA SHOCK! Harry & Meghan Have Finally Signed The DIVORCE Papers” threw royal enthusiasts into a frenzy. According to the video, Harry felt “tightly controlled by Meghan” and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had signed divorce papers. The article is harshly critical of the Duchess, attributing many of its assertions to unnamed sources and stating that “the signing of Harry and Meghan’s divorce papers is only a rumor in the media.

Politifact said: “A video in the Facebook post claims to offer up juicy details, such as that Harry is back in England while Meghan stays in the United States with the couple’s two children, but it does not provide any credible evidence that any of this is actually true. Claims that Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, divorced are baseless.”
