Emmy Awards 2023 Reveals New Air Date

The 2023 Emmys ceremony is now scheduled to take place in the year 2024.

The Television Academy and Fox have revealed that the 75th Emmy Awards will be broadcasted live across the nation on Monday, January 15, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, coinciding with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The awards show, which honors outstanding achievements in television, was initially scheduled for September 18 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

However, it was postponed indefinitely due to strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA in July. These unions are currently in discussions with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) for new contracts.

The choice to delay the event was taken after the Emmy nominations for 2023 had already been announced.

These nominations included prominent shows like Succession, The Last of Us, and The White Lotus from HBO, which received more than 20 nominations each. Other popular shows like Ted Lasso, The Mandalorian, Wednesday, Jury Duty, Beef, Andor, and The Bear were also featured on the remarkable list.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards, initially planned for September 9, will now be distributed across two consecutive evenings on January 6 and 7, 2024. An edited broadcast of the awards events will be shown on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FXX.

In this year’s awards, a considerable number of actors received recognition for the first time, notably Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Debicki, Taron Egerton, Jenna Ortega, Pedro Pascal, Steven Yeun, Jeremy Allen White, Aubrey Plaza, and Bella Ramsey.

Among them was 10-year-old Keivonn Montreal Woodard, who made history as the second youngest Emmy nominee for his moving role as Sam in The Last of Us.

Additionally, Elton John’s Disney+ performance, “Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium,” being nominated for Best Variety Special (Live), raises the possibility of him achieving EGOT status.
