In memory of her mother, American actress Selma Blair Beitner danced the rumba to the song “For Your Eyes Only,” leaving everyone in tears.
Selma Blair’s outstanding performance changed “For Your Eyes Only” into “For Your Crying Eyes Only.”
During the program’s James Bond night, the actress, who is taking part in season 31 of Dancing With the Stars, gave a particular homage to her idol by dancing blindfolded to Sheena Easton’s “For Your Eyes Only” from the 1981 film of the same name.
During her opening package, Blair moved everyone—including herself—to tears by explaining the song’s additional significance and dedicated her performance to her late mother, Molly Ann.
Blair spoke to EW in a sad post-performance news conference about the significance of singing in her mother’s honor. She stated, “To feel anything other than nervousness is grounding. “Whenever I’m in an environment where I can see my mother, which is usually the case, she’s constantly with me. The blindfold, therefore, had two meanings for me. She created me, and no matter how happy or successful I am, I always want to return home.”
Farber determined that Blair would execute most of the dance while wearing a blindfold during their performance. According to Farber’s introduction, the blindfold was to counteract Blair’s MS and associated propensity for sensory overload. Additionally, it gave them a chance to demonstrate their mutual trust in one another as dance partners and how Farber gives Blair confidence and stability on the dance floor.
At the press conference following the performance, Blair says, “It was unbelievably odd, but we were trying to elevate the ante.” “Sasha was never distant from me at all, but it was a means for me to avoid experiencing too much sensory overload. The blindfold was a clever approach to add some flair, but it was also a challenge that comforted me and made me feel more connected to my spouse.”
The judges praised Blair and Farber for their trust in one another and ability to move about quickly. With 28 points from the judges, they came in third place in the rankings.
