Taylor Swift The Eras Tour concert film, distributed by AMC, will hit theaters on Friday. Beyoncé can be seen on the premiere of Eras Tour, who is also set to release her concert film this year, showed up to support Swift and even posed for photos with her after the screening.
The 12-time Grammy winner, at the age of 33, personally selected 2,200 of her biggest fans, known as ‘Swifties,’ to be the first to watch the concert footage on the big screen.
Dressed elegantly in a $12,000 Oscar de la Renta gown, Swift walked the red carpet before taking her place in one of the 14 sold-out screening rooms at the AMC movie theater within the outdoor mall. Swift’s film captures one of the six sold-out shows she performed at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California during her ongoing Eras Tour.
The concert film has already raked in an impressive $100 million in presale ticket sales and will exclusively hit AMC Theatres starting on Friday, October 13.
In a similar move, Beyoncé is bringing her Renaissance tour to theaters, making her the second pop superstar this season to turn a blockbuster concert into a moviegoing experience. Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé is scheduled to hit theaters across the US, Canada, and Mexico on December 1st, with AMC, Cinemark, and Regal already selling tickets. AMC plans to take it global eventually as reported by the Verge.
This announcement comes after Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour concert film broke preorder records, amassing $26 million in ticket sales in just one day. While Swift’s film was initially available only at AMC during the preorder period, Beyoncé’s Renaissance is expected to have a wider availability.
