All anime-lovers, assemble! Because Netflix is bringing a spin-off of Kakegurui known as Kakegurui Twins, releasing on August 4th, 2022. The trailer has gotten everyone thrilled featuring  “Queens Bluff” by i☆Ris as the theme song.

The epic Japanese story written by Homura Kawamotois is serving as a prequel to Kakegurui, based on a girl named Mary Saotome who seems like an ordinary school girl once she gets admission into a new school but then turns into a compulsive gambler.

Kakegurui Twin’s Plot

The series serves as a prequel to Kakegurui, showing life at the school a year before Kakegurui. The story starts as Mary Saotome gets admission into Hyakkaou Private Academy. Her journey begins as she sets her priority to always be number one, aiming high, excelling at everything.

However, her priorities change once she runs into an old classmate who distracts Mary, introducing her to gambling. Mary, having the fear to fit in the new school, is forced to gamble. But the real question is, would her luck help her win? Or would she lose everything along the way? Or would she become highly addicted?

According to the trailer, we will be seeing a new character, Tsuzura Hanatemari, who would be highly inspired by Mary Saotome’s talent to gamble.

Both of these shows are Homura Kawamoto’s work. These were published back in 2014, introducing everyone to the concept of gambling in a high school, where students do not get fame through their money or political influence, but rather from their ability to gamble and win. The game has high risk and danger, but the ones who get the hang of it, are the queens of the school.
