Where the Crawdads Sing by Sony Pictures has hit the $90 million domestic box office, demonstrating that movies other than tentpoles can succeed on the big screen, after debuting on July 15, the film reached its peak on Tuesday, its 82nd day of distribution.
Additionally, it’s a remarkable achievement given that the movie only had one Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon as its producer. Hello Sunshine is the inspiration for the movie, rather than a large ensemble cast. Where the Crawdads Sing has earned about $132 million worldwide.
Standing ovation for this movie, which defied 34% negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and received an A- CinemaScore and 4 1/2 stars on Comscore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak. Before the epidemic, reviews appeared to determine a movie’s destiny at the box office.
The Olivia Newman-directed film Where the Crawdads Sing, which had a 55% female over 25 demographic and an 87% rating on PostTrak, was another choice to entice older female audiences during the epidemic.
This movie is an adaptation of the novel by Lucy Alibar, centers on a lady who was reared in the Deep South’s marshes and later becomes a suspect in the death of a guy she had formerly been connected with.
Where the Crawdads Sing stars David Strathairn, Harris Dickinson, Taylor John Smith, Michael Hyatt, Sterling Macer, Jr., and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter collaborate on production. Rhonda Fehr and Betsy Danbury are the executive producers.
