What We Do in the Shadows actor Harvey Guillén gave an update on seasons five and six of the program. The daily antics of four vampire roommates in Staten Island are the subject of the mockumentary series. Their struggles to integrate into contemporary life and make their cohabitation as simple as possible are humorously explored in the show.
In an interview Guillén who plays the vampire Guillermo gave an update on the fifth season of What We Do in the Shadows. Guillén emphasised that despite the show’s renewal for seasons 5 and 6, no filming has yet taken place. But with half of season 5’s filming now completed, the time is passing quickly. While giving the update, Guillén reflected on how quickly time had passed since the pilot of the series had been filmed.
“Well, we just got picked up for season 5 and 6. We’re filming 5 now, and then we definitely have 6 waiting for us. But who knows? The world could end tomorrow. But so far, so good. We’re just taking it one season at a time. I can’t believe that it’s already season 5, because I was thinking about this. I was shooting last night, and we’re halfway done through season 5 of filming. The time is just going so fast, and it’s so great. I can’t believe I’ve been living up here in Toronto on and off for five years now. That’s half a decade, you know? Just the idea of that, it’s like, “We just shot the pilot like yesterday. Wasn’t Taika and Jemaine just here shooting?”
Seasons 5 and 6 were only this summer renewed, however season 5 filming has already started. This indicates that the premiere of season 5 might be scheduled for the second half of 2023. Even though filming is still ongoing, What We Do in the Shadows has done a fantastic job at giving viewers a hint as to what to expect in the show’s future. This is especially true in light of the unexpected conclusion to season 4, which left a lot of doors and paths open.
