HuluÂ has renewed its popular thriller seriesÂ The Handmaid’s TaleÂ for a sixth and final season.
Creator and showrunner Bruce Miller made the announcement Thursday night at the season 5 premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, also confirming that he is developing a sequel, titled The Testaments, to be set years after the events of the Elisabeth Moss-starring, Emmy-winning series.
Based on that small snippet posted on the show’s social media, we can expect that the entire cast will return for season 6

There’s no release date as of yet,Â but, the cast made sure to build up hype.Â On Instagram, the show’s official page posted a video of some familiar faces that teased the renewal news. The caption read: “We can’t keep this a secret any longer. #TheHandmaidsTale will return for a 6th and final season on @hulu. âœŠ.”
As it turns out, the hit series is getting its own sequel based on Margaret’s 2019 novelÂ The Testaments, according toÂ The Hollywood Reporter.Â It’s set 15 years after the 1985 dystopian story.
The Handmaid’s TaleÂ season 5 premieres Sept. 14, with two episodes debuting that day, followed by new weekly installments every Wednesday. A season 6 premiere date has yet to be announced.
