The Crown’s star Emma Corrin is a supported of intimacy coach and says one shouldn’t undertake intimacy scenes without an intimacy coordinator.
During the production of the movie by DH Lawrence’s steamy Lady Chatterley’s Lover the actor and co-star Jack O’Connell utilised intimacy coaches, which have grown increasingly popular in the business as a result of the #MeToo movement.
Opening up on Zoe Ball’s radio show, Corrin apparently said it was “something that the industry has really woken up to”. “I always compare it to like, you wouldn’t do a fight sequence or a stunt sequence without a stunt coordinator, and you shouldn’t do intimacy scenes without an intimacy coordinator,” they said.
During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Corrin was asked why they wanted the role, and replied: “When I got the script Laure (de Clermont-Tonnerre) our director was already attached and she is incredible, and there was a crazy scene where they both dance naked in the rain. “For some reason I was like, ‘Yes, sign me up!'”
“I think certainly that it was the most exhilarating thing I have ever done in my life,” they went on. “In filmmaking it is pretend so it’s rare that you are actually in a situation where you are literally thinking and feeling exactly as your character would be. Emma Corrin added “Being completely naked in the Welsh countryside meant you didn’t have to fake anything, you were just feeling it and it was quite amazing.”
