For the past several days, Stranger Things fans have been struggling with a question regarding a scene in season 4 finale – where exactly did Hopper get the sword he used to fight the Demogorgon?
For most of season 4, Hopper was trapped in a Rusian prison. He later manages to break free with the help of Joyce, Murray, and his new friend Dimitri “Enzo” Antonov. In the final episodes, Hopper winds up in an epic battle with a Demogorgon. So where did he get the sword?
The answer to the question can be found in episode seven.
Fans will recall that Russian soldiers gave Hopper and his fellow prisoners access to a weapons closet. Inside the locker were several old weapons, including spears, axes, and, of course, swords, which they could arm themselves with. The find encouraged Hopper and the prisoners to battle the Demogorgon.
The prisoner who picked up the sword is among the many inmates that were killed during the standoff, which explains how it ends up on the ground in the pit ready for Hopper to pick it up later.
