The new Marvel Cinematic Universe show Wonder Man, according to Stephen Broussard, will carry on Disney+’s relatively new trend of “unique” superhero programs.
Stan Lee, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby are listed as the creators of the Wonder Man character. In 1964, he was first featured as a supervillain fighting the Avengers, but he eventually switched sides and joined the group. Initially, Simon Williams, his alter ego, ran a failed weapons business that tried to take on Tony Stark’s enterprise. Through chemical and radiation treatments utilizing “ionic” energy, he developed his different superpowers.
In an interview with Comicbook, Broussard said, the series is “definitely influenced by the comics. It’s going to feel very unique.” He further said that “serialized storytelling is a totally different muscle” adding, “So, we’re having a blast making that one.”
The Wonder Man series has a satirical look at Hollywood. Wonder Man is scheduled to begin filming in March, as originally stated in June 2022.
