Lady Gaga herself has joined the craze, producing a dance video of her own! TikTok fans have taken to copying the routines to Lady Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary” after Jenna Ortega’s legendary dance moment in Netflix’s Wednesday.
The black and white video, which was shared on Instagram by Netflix, features Lady Gaga dressed as Wednesday, complete with heels, the character’s recognisable braids, and an all black costume with a frilly white collar.
In the video, Lady Gaga performs Wednesday’s funky moves to a sped-up version of her own iconic song from her album Born This Way. “Mother Monster has arrived,” the caption read.
Wednesday‘s dance scene went viral after it appeared in Season 1, Episode 4, “Woe What a Night.” Ortega noted that viewers have many different people to thank for her characters’ kooky moves. As she was inspired by a number of sources, including “Siouxsie Sioux, Bob Fosse’s Rich Man’s Frug, Lisa Loring, Lene Lovich, Denis Lavant, and archival footage of goths dancing in clubs in the ’80s.”
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creators of Wednesday, indicated that they already have some ideas for a second season. This suggests that viewers may see more dance scenes from Ortega in the future.
“I think like any relationship or any friendship, it can get complicated by other factors,” he explained. “It’s never going to be smooth sailing. And it’s really learning to navigate the ups and downs of friendship.”
Season 1 of Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix.
