HBO unveils first footage from ‘True Detective: Night Country’ S4

The anticipated fourth season of HBO’s Emmy-winning crime drama anthology True Detective which will be released by the premium cabler in 2023 has released its debut trailer: True Detective: Night Country.

The new season which also stars actor-boxer Kali Reis (Catch the Fair One) and two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs) picks up in Ennis Alaska as the six men who run the Tsalal Arctic Research Station mysteriously disappear. Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to face the darkness they harbour within of them and delve into the haunted secrets that are buried beneath the perpetual ice in order to solve the crime.

Today’s new True Detective: Night Country clips were included in a sizzle trailer promoting HBO and HBO Max programming that also featured previews for upcoming episodes of Perry Mason Succession Barry The Last of Us and The Idol. While it doesn’t provide any new plot details it does give viewers their first glimpse of Foster and Reis in uniform and a sense of the chilly winter setting their Iceland-shot season is set in.

The most recent season of the Nic Pizzolatto created series was written directed and showrun by Issa Lopez who also served as an executive producer for Pastel along with Foster Barry Jenkins Adele Romanski Mark Ceryak Steve Golin Richard Brown Matthew McConaughey Woody Harrelson and Cary Joji Fukunaga. Sam Breckman Cathy Tagnak Rexford and Princess Daazhraii Johnson are among the producers.
