‘Grey’s Anatomy’ includes Marla Gibbs for season 19 arc on ABC

A new class of surgical interns will debut in Season 19 of ABC‘s Grey’s Anatomy.

In multi-episode guest storyline, Marla Gibbs (The Jeffersons) will play Joyce Ward, the Seattle-based grandmother of one of the newcomers, Simone Griffith (Alexis Floyd). Gibbs’ persona will first emerge in Episode 1902 and then again in Episode 1903.

Simone, who grew up in Seattle and is regarded as hilarious, clever as a whip, and a high achiever with a complex family dynamic, has never wanted to work at Grey Sloan due to a traumatic personal past with the institution. Simone’s familial structure and her relationship with Grey Sloan’s history will probably be clarified by Gibbs’ Joyce.

Harry Shum Jr., Adelaide Kane, Floyd, Niko Terho, and Midori Francis are the five brand-new cast members joining Grey’s Anatomy this season as new interns.

Veteran TV actress Gibbs received five Emmy nods for her portrayal of Florence Johnston on The Jeffersons.

Gibbs’ comprehensive CV included roles on Scandal, a Shondaland drama, and the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Station 19. She just played a significant recurring role on Days Of Our Lives.
