Ester Expósito, one of the most prominent newcomers from Elite is set to star in new series La Isla Bonita.
Ginesta Guindal created the series, which is produced by The Immigrant and Sabado Pelculas, with global distribution handled by production-distribution superindie Fremantle.
It’s billed as an irreverent dramedy about a group of friends who share a property in Ibiza until the owner decides to raise the rent for the summer months, forcing them to come up with a solution.
Expósito, who played Carla Rosón Caleruega in Elite with greater complexity and depth, portrays Roxy, who rents a room in the house to become someone on social media by attending the island’s biggest parties.
Ginesta says about the new project, “‘La Isla Bonita’ is a personal series. Lustful. Loving. Full of vitality. This story is based on my own experiences in Ibiza and springs from my life values and emotions, from being a Millennial in today’s world.”
Ginesta also praised Ester Expósito saying that her “ability to portray characters that are complex, contradictory, and relatable to audiences worldwide is a wonderful fit.”
The production of La Isla Bonita is set to begin in the second half of 2023.
