Angelica Ross posted on social media about an incident where her co-star from American Horror Story, Emma Roberts, misgendered her and said something hurtful about transgender people. Later, she thanked Roberts for calling and saying sorry.
Just a day after Angelica Ross, who is known for her role in Pose, accused her former co-star Emma Roberts of making a hurtful comment about transgender people while they were working on the FX and Hulu series, Ross revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that Roberts contacted her to apologize.
“Thank you @RobertsEmma for calling and apologizing, recognizing your behavior was not that of an ally,” she shared on Wednesday. “I will leave the line open to follow up on your desire to do better and support social justice causes with your platform.”
Ross, initially shared her account of the alleged incident during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday. This Live session was recorded and shared by a fan account dedicated to American Horror Story.
In the video, Ross stated that the incident involving her and Roberts, whom she referred to using only her first name and initials, allegedly occurred during their time working on the anthology series.
Ross said to PEOPLE in an interview that “I’m standing in front of Emma, talking to her like this, and she’s in front of me, her back against the mirror. She goes, ‘John, Angelica’s being mean,’” she claimed, referring to AHS director John J. Gray.
Ross claimed that Gray then said, “Okay, ladies, you know, that’s enough. Let’s get back to work.”
The actress continued, “[Roberts] then looks at me, and she goes, ‘Don’t you mean lady?’ And she turns around like this and covers her mouth. I’m staring at her, looking her dead ass in the camera, and I’m like, trying to process the f— she just said.”
On Wednesday, Ross tweeted another story accusing the Scream Queens star of being transphobic on the set of AHS: 1984. “We’re all sitting around & I’m copying Cody’s accent…. Emma then copies my voice & laugh and drops it several octaves. I was SHOOK,” tweeted Ross.
“She read me for blood with my own words. Of course I was self-conscious about my voice on set after that.” She then made it clear that she did not want her followers to threaten violence against Roberts, writing, “I appreciate the support but please do not joke about violence towards Emma. Joke about her being held accountable. Now THATs funny.”
Later, Ross posted another tweet stating that Roberts had called her to apologize for her actions on the set.
