Barbie vs. Oppenheimer: The Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Victor

Excitement for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is at its highest point as both movies are releasing together on July 21.

On Wednesday, July 19, the reviews for Oppenheimer finally became available, a day after critics shared their opinions on Barbie. Rotten Tomatoes has now unveiled the winner.

On Tuesday, Barbie premiered with a remarkable score of 89 percent on the review aggregator website, and as of now, it has risen to 90 percent.

However, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has surpassed Greta Gerwig’s movie with an impressive opening score of 95 percent. It’s essential to note that these scores may change as more reviews are adding.

Oppenheimer’s score makes it Nolan’s highest-rated movie so far. His next best film is The Dark Knight (2008), the second movie in his Batman trilogy, which has a score of 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie Oppenheimer, featuring Irish actor Cillian Murphy as the main character, tells the story of theoretical physicist J Robert Oppenheimer, the person behind the creation of the first nuclear bomb.

The reviews from The Independent were different from the majority on Rotten Tomatoes. Our film critic Clarisse Loughrey gave Barbie five stars, but Nolan’s movie received a nearly perfect four stars.

Barbie is one of the most inventive, immaculately crafted and surprising mainstream films in recent memory – a testament to what can be achieved within even the deepest bowels of capitalism,” she wrote.

Despite calling Oppenheimer Nolan’s “best and most revealing work”, Loughrey stated that the movie is at times “a little too conscious of itself, and the ways cinema crafts its own reality”.

After the SAG-AFTRA strike announcement, SAG sent a memo to its members, telling them not to promote any upcoming projects. The two blockbusters have put publicity events and interviews on hold as a result.

During Barbie’s London premiere, Margot Robbie expressed her full support for the unions, especially SAG, of which she is a part.

Likewise, Christopher Nolan showed his support when his cast staged a walkout during the London premiere of his movie.
