However, some observant fans on TikTok have noticed intriguing Easter eggs in the Barbie trailer that hint at a similarity to The Wizard of Oz. The connection between the two movies is quite convincing.
After releasing the trailer this week, Cat Quinn, a former beauty editor, shared on Instagram that she noticed several references to the classic 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz.
In the trailer, Barbie wears a pink gingham dress, resembling the blue gingham dress worn by Judy Garland as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

Around the 30-second mark of the trailer, Barbie drives past a cinema that displays posters featuring characters from The Wizard of Oz.
Fans have also noticed that the pink road Barbie travels on, connecting Barbie Land to the Real World, bears a resemblance to the famous Yellow Brick Road that Dorothy follows to reach Emerald City.
Lastly, viewers have drawn a connection between the fluffy pink heels that Barbie steps into at the beginning of the trailer and Dorothy’s iconic ruby slippers in The Wizard of Oz.
The trailer briefly showed Will Ferrell’s character, who represents a toy company CEO in the real world. In the trailer, we see Barbie meeting him. It’s similar to Dorothy meeting the Wizard of Oz in the movie.
