Netflix Opens In-Person Experience in Japan Based on Upcoming Cartoon Series

A pavilion at KidZania in Fukuoka will house Netflix’s first location-based entertainment experience in Japan. Public access will begin on Sunday (July 31, 2022).

KidZania is an interactive city that mixes inspiration, entertainment, and education through experiences in real-world careers.

Children may immerse themselves in the world of the new series “Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure” at the Netflix pavilion, where they can learn about stop-motion animation and assist in bringing characters to life.

The Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma characters will be placed in Nakasugi Land, and children ages three to fifteen will be able to collaborate in teams of six to create an original story. A short movie will be made using the same stop-motion method used in the Rilakkuma series.

“We are pleased that by joining KidZania Fukuoka as a sponsor, children and their families living in Kyushu will be able to feel closer to Netflix and have the unique experience of seeing what it’s like to work at a production studio,†said Masato Shimoi, Netflix’s director of business development, Japan.

The San-X firm invented the comic book character Rilakkuma in 2003. He has appeared on stationery, merchandise, and has been used to brand eateries. “Rilakkuma and Kaoru,” a stop-motion television series produced by Dwarf, San-X, and Netflix, was made available on Netflix in 2019.

On August 25, 2022, Netflix will launch “Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure” in all countries. Characters Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma, Kaoru, and Kiiroitori visit a theme park that is due to close in the eight-part series. There, kids engage in adventures and interact with a variety of people.
