The series is set “two to three weeks” after Cult, according to Chucky creator Don Mancini, placing it in late 2017. I’m almost positive that the Chucky series takes place in 2021, though I hesitate to disagree with the show’s creator on this point. The most convincing proof can be found in Episode 3 on a gravestone. A character who perishes in the first episode has a gravestone with the date of death on October 19, 2021, on it. Brad Dourif and many other actors from the movie series returned to play the same characters in the television series, which lets Chucky loose on a sleepy, idyllic town.
